Listing musical influences such as Kanye West, Timberland, Mannie Fresh, Johnny Juliano, Tone Jonez, and Jahlil Beats, 22-year-old MaliXx describes his musical style as versatile. His songs “Call It”, “Paper Planes”, “She Bad” and “Hell of a Night”, for example, represent the Hip-Hop, Trap, and R & B genres.
The producer/artist grew up in Pageland, South Carolina (located 42 miles South of Charlotte, North Carolina). MaliXx showed a strong interest in music at a very early age. He produced his first song at the young age of ten and by age eleven, he started producing tracks for local, independent artists. “I love music. I’ve been around it my entire life. My father is a musician in his own right. My mother is an avid music lover. She has an eclectic taste in music. We always had a home studio and I grew up watching my father run sessions and such. I learned to write and produce music by watching him.”A gifted musician as well, MaliXx played in the high school marching band in Jr. High school. He played trumpet, trombone and percussion. He also plays guitar and drums.
When MaliXx was fourteen-years-old, he moved to Miami, Florida to live with his father for three years. MaliXx, through his father’s influence, quickly jumped into the Miami music scene. He almost immediately started producing music for many of the local, independent artists in or around South Florida such as; Mr. Magic of LHO (Little Haiti Outlawz), M. Trillion, Young Mash and J –Icee of We Good Entertainment-to name a few. It was then that MaliXx started to look at himself, not only as a producer, but also an artist. He started to produce tracks for himself and performing in live shows alongside the Miami artists he wrote for. MaliXx’s music during this time was also featured in various Miami based mix-tapes. About this time in his life MaliXx says, “My parents split up. My dad moved to Miami. I had a difficult time adjusting. I started acting out and messing up in school. My mom sent me to Florida to keep me from getting into serious trouble. I love Miami. I dig the music, the diverse people…EVERYTHING! The whole vibe was inspiring. Creatively, musically, I grew. I learned so much.”
MaliXx is currently living in South Carolina, working on his music and producing for local artists. “I know that I am only 20-years-old, but I’m going to be a very successful artist and music producer in the near future…don’t believe me? Just watch
